Location sensing is a critical technology issue in the sensor network area, like the function of controlling mote power using distance information. Location sensing technology is applicable in a wide range of settings like when tracking the
location of objects or physicians/patients in a hospital. Unlike the existing method of using RFID or ultrasonic waves for location awareness, HBE-Ubi-nanoLOC provides a new type of location tracking/sensing mechanism. Hanback Electronics' HBE-Ubi-nanoLOC has the function of measuring the distance using an RF transmission scheme based on the chirp spread spectrum (CSS) and provides a variety of access options and storage devices. HBE-Ubi-nanoLOC distance delivers information and sensor data to a remote server, constructing an autonomous communication network and makes available all optional sensor modules which are used in ZigbeX II. Furthermore, it also provides expansibility so that the user can build an optional module into it.
